Who we're looking for

The role will have a commercial and regulatory focus to support our business growth and ultimately, you will integrate with the wider business to be involved in a huge variety of strategic projects. This is a tremendous opportunity for competent lawyers who are eager to learn and work alongside the business teams in our globalization initiatives. Travel will be required for this role and given the focus of the group on the China region, the successful candidate will need to be a Mandarin speaker.

What you will be doing in this role:

We are looking for a driven, passionate and good team player to join our global and dynamic in-house legal team. The successful candidate will be based in HK and will work closely with the World First and Ant Financial legal and compliance teams and provide support to the Leadership team in the APAC region.

  • Advising, drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts being the lead negotiator on complex negotiations.
  • Advising the business on various regulatory matters and strategizing responses to regulatory inquiries.
  • Optimizing operational efficiency by structuring, updating and maintaining various standard contracts templates for business to scale quickly.
  • Tracking key regulatory developments, preparing consultation responses and providing regular updates to the business and relevant internal stakeholders.
About you:
  • Lawyer in technology and financial services, in either a law firm or in-house legal position. US, UK or HK legal qualifications; China law experience would be beneficial.
  • Business level Mandarin & English is a must. You’ll need to be able to read, write and speak the languages.
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational, and verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex issues in a simple and commercial manner.
  • Pro-active individual with the ability to think outside the box in order to provide creative solutions.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks and work to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to take responsibility / ownership of projects and tasks.
