At Equal Justice 平義社, we’re on a mission to close Hong Kong’s justice poverty gap and to reduce hardship. We help people anticipate, prevent, and solve their legal problems for free. Who we're looking for

An opportunity to create a positive impact by supporting legally underserved and marginalised people in a purpose-driven, social-impact, and start-up environment.  A wide-ranging role, with deep organisational access and consequence, that provides a bird’s-eye view of building out and running a Hong Kong NGO. The successful candidate will report to, and work closely with, the Chief Finance and Operations Officer (‘CFOO’) to provide organisational support across our Business Management functions that include Finance & Fundraising, People, Operations, and governance  Risk - all of which help ensure that our core business is in good shape, follows best practices and enables us to fulfil our social mission.

What you will be doing
  • FINANCE & FUNDRAISING: Preparing for, and participating in, bi-weekly Finance and Fundraising internal calls and follow-up; preparing grant applications; reporting to donors and community partners; liaising with contractors and third-party vendors; preparing monthly financial reports; drafting the annual budget and supporting the audit; administration of invoices and payments, keeping accurate and up-to-date records; supporting campaigns, and events from time to time
  • PEOPLE: Preparing for, and participating in, bi-weekly People internal calls and follow-up; recruitment, hiring, onboarding, reviewing and offboarding team members, volunteers and interns; calendar management, team training and development; volunteer system management, holiday planning, wellbeing and resilience support
  • OPERATIONS: Preparing for, and participating in, bi-weekly Operations internal calls and follow-up; preparing reports, managing the meetings calendar, including annual scheduling, reminders, and distribution of paperwork, and occasional minute-taking; negotiating and supporting lease and renovation projects, as required; managing the office cleaner and annual deep clean; arranging events and lunches,
    as needed for team and community partners; applying for corporate memberships and awards
  • GOVERNANCE & RISK: Support the annual audit of third-party contracts and requirements, risk reporting, policy reviews and updates. Occasionally supporting the Founder and Board Chair with board-related administration
Who you are
  • Graduate degree in one/more of Business Management, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources Management, Data Analytics, Communications, Law
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Cantonese
  • Digitally fluent and able to learn and flex across multiple systems and platforms with ease
  • Excellent attention to detail. Good data analytics. Great with spreadsheets and numbers
  • Dynamic team communicator and player; a quick learner who works well under pressure and in a growing and highly collaborative working environment
  • Intellectual humility and grace under pressure are must-haves along with compassion and discretion
  • Comfortable with, and committed to operating within, our core values: open, inclusive, people-centered, and transparent
  • Excited about working in a start-up, digitally committed environment and the associated opportumentnities and challenges it creates
Key Terms
  • Duration: initial 12-month contract
  • Location: primarily at our Community Legal Information Centre in Yau Ma Tei, and adjusted as required to comply with applicable social-distancing requirements
  • Weekly hours: full-time (40 hours per week), although there may be some flexibility
  • Pay: HK$12,000-18,000 per month, depending upon qualifications and experience
  • Annual Leave: 30 days’ paid annual leave per calendar year, exercisable on successful completion of the probationary period
